Yoga is a fantastic art, combining body, mind, and spirit. As an artist and educator, Allison Kleinsteuber has been found the practice of yoga to be an extension of her love of creative expression.  She has been an artist, muralist, and art educator for over 20 years and is currently teaching visual art at Golden West High School.

Allison came to the practice of yoga due to the invitation of a friend. Always an avid outdoor enthusiast, exercise had been a constant in her life, but it was no longer helping with her constant battle with depression, headaches and fatigue. Concerned that the stress of teaching was the problem, she accepted her friend's invitation and became immediately hooked. She was pleased and surprised that yoga was more than just relaxation.

The asanas or poses require a combination of strength, endurance, and flexibility, and when combined with breath and meditation, provide for deep relaxation and the release from stress. Allison has gone from the presence of weekly headaches that often lasted for days, to the rare hormonal headache. She has also found an increase in her endurance and energy and has been able to help keep her depression to a low level.

Allison has a passion for helping people and was honored to be asked to learn how to teach for her teacher, Brenda Proudfoot of Valley Yoga. She's been a teacher there for over a year and is constantly seeking to improve her abilities and knowledge through constant practice and taking of classes. She spent this past summer at the Yogacharya Conference in San Jose, studying under some of the most senior Iyengar teachers throughout the world.

Her style is basically modeled upon the Iyengar style, but brings in other traditions as it seems appropriate. She hopes to be able to share her passion for what yoga can do for the body, mind and spirit and looks forward to meeting and working with you personally.
